We have build a OPC UA Client and trying for OPC certification.
We were analyzing this test case for session services – ‘Server returns an untrusted certificate, i.e. signed by an untrusted authority.’
We are using OPC java stack (opc-ua-stack-1.4.1.jar) and this part is handled by the code in the jar. We wanted to know what happens when Server returns an untrusted certificate – does the code throw an exception or accept it?
We are working with simulation servers, so could not test the scenario, hence posting the query.

The decision on whether to trust certificate has to be handled by the application and cannot be done in the stack. Most stacks will provide a callback that allows applications to receive notifications when they need to make a decision.
